FIT screening

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most frequently diagnosed cancers. The good news is that CRC incidence and mortality can be reduced significantly if detected early enough.

Faecal immunochemical tests (FIT) are non-invasive and can detect blood in stool invisible to the naked eye. Due to its simplicity, FIT is currently considered the best non-invasive test for CRC screening.

Invest a little time in your own health by taking the FIT to prevent or detect colon cancer early on.

Haematology

Haematology is a branch of medical science that studies the morphology of blood and blood- forming tissues. It delivers diagnoses and treats diseases of the blood and its cell components. It covers the cellular and serum composition of blood, the coagulation process, blood cell formation, haemoglobin synthesis and all related disorders.

Haematology studies red and white blood cells and platelets, their relative proportions, general cell health and the diseases caused by misbalances between them. Red blood cells have several important roles but their most important function is to carry oxygen and CO2. White blood cells are an indispensable part of the body’s immune defence system, while platelets play an essential part in blood coagulation. All cells are necessary, but they have to be in the right proportions or systems will break down.

In this context, for instance, anaemia is the shortage of red blood cells, a condition caused by various factors. Leukaemia is a condition in which the bone marrow produces too many abnormal white blood cells so that they displace erythropoiesis and thrombopoiesis, and lead to dangerous symptoms.  Thrombocytopenia is a serious acquired condition or symptom of an underlying disease.

Haematology recognises such misbalances. One of the most important laboratory tests – CBC – can help diagnose these conditions and so that appropriate treatments can be prescribed
